Peugeot to begin assembling its cars in Kenya

Peugeot will strat assembling of its brand parts in Kenya by next year.

The French automaker is set to become the latest multinational to produce vehicles in Kenya.

The news about Peugeot was revealed by the Head of State, president Uhuru Kenyatta during Jamhuri day on Monday.

The Paris-based firm had discussed its plan with the government and it was confirmed that everything was being readied for the launch.

Volkswagen’s of German is another automaker that has penetrated Kenya market with its Polo Vivo set to be launched by next Wednesday.

According to the company sources, the team is weighing on two options; building its own firm or signing a contract with an existing firm.

If the company chooses the second option, Associated Vehicle Assembly (AVA) based Mombasa and Kenya Vehicle Manufactures (TVM) that has its offices in Thika may be the luckiest since they are the only assembling companies offering contract production.

KVM has been contracted to assemble Polo Vivo car that will be priced below  Ksh 2m by DT Dobie.
