A human rights organization in Embu has decried the low pace of dealing with police brutality cases. Doris Namu from the Independent Medical Legal Unit in Embu County observed that out of the 50 cases only two had been acted upon. She noted that the two cases of Kianjokoma slain brothers were dealt with following a public outcry which resulted in two days protests. She appealed to the Director of public prosecutions to fast rack the prosecution of the cases to ensure justice was served. She was speaking when the human rights body visited Samuel Ireri who is nursing a broken arm after

being overrun by a police land cruiser.
Ireri narrated how a cop driving the police vehicle pulled him as he walked by the road side and was overun by the rear tyres. He said the cop had started reversing the land-cruiser before boda boda operators rushed to his rescue. Ireri added that the land cruiser belonged to Kathageri police station in Embu East Sub-county and it took the intervention of the OCS for the police driver to pay for his x-ray .He laments that the officer has been threatening and abusing him while his case has not taken off despite filing a P3 form. Catherine Warieme the wife has called the government to intervene and have the accused officer compelled to compensate his husband.
She said they have been reduced to beggars and risk being evicted by the landlord as they have rent arrears.
