Angry residents bust illicit brew dens in Baringo

The upsurge of illicit brew in Ng’olong village in Baringo central sub-county forced locals to conduct a crackdown in efforts to wipe out the liquor which they claim has rendered most of the community members hopeless and poor.

One young lady who was identified as a leading brewer in the area was arrested, on Sunday night after escaping severally from police dragnets.

Led by the area chief Wilson Kapkwang, the residents said that the woman has been one of the leading sources of illicit brew which has destroyed the lives of many, especially the youth.

However, she defended herself by saying that she chose the business since her husband is in prison and she has no other source of livelihood to sustain her young family.
