Kenya rugby Sevens captain Andrew Amonde believes they can deliver the first Olympic Games title despite the tight pooling.
Kenyans have been pooled against Great Britain, New Zealand and Japan. The Kenya captain said it is not about who they are playing but how they play as a team.
“This is not about our opponents but ourselves. I know it won’t be easy but this being Kenya, we have the zeal and drive to reciprocate Kenya’s support,” he said.
However, Amonde noted that for them to achieve their target, they will have to give 100 percent as a team. Amonde believes Kenya can overcome any opposition in the world, any day as long as they work as a team.
He dismissed the notion Great Britain will be a major threat considering they will be featuring the best players from England, Wales and Scotland.
“For us, it’s the same thing and the focus is what matters at the end of the day,” he noted.
He said past records will not matter here because the games are about determination.
