Anne Waiguru to Make Major Announcement

Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru is on Saturday expected to officially announce her political move after what she terms months of consultations.

Ms Waiguru, who has been away from the public eye after quitting her powerful position in government, will apparently be declaring her bid for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat.

Reports indicate that she will be seeking the Jubilee Party ticket to battle it out with incumbent Joseph Ndathi and Kirinyaga Central MP Joseph Gitari, who also wants to run.

“Tomorrow [today], at 10am, I will be at TNA headquarters to pick my life member Jubilee certificate,” Waiguru told The Star, adding that she will be accompanied by Kirinyaga TNA officials.

Waiguru will announce her bid at a public gathering in Kerugoya town organised by area businessmen.

About 1000 people have been invited to the function, with her posters already circulating in the area. However, her close associates indicate that the posters are being distributed by  those who want her to run.

Waiguru resigned on November 21, 2015, at the height of a controversy sparked by corruption allegations against her docket.

During the announcement of her resignation she noted that the persistent political attacks launched at her were affecting her family. She cited doctor’s advice to take some time off.
