The Chilean forward who had scored in each of his previous three matches wasted little time in adding to his tally here as he fired in a low drive after six minutes.
Alexis claimed his second just before half time with a curling free kick that somehow found its way through the West Brom wall.
The win saw Arsenal partially cement their dreams to play in the Champions League next season since the top four positions are highly coveted for by five teams including the leaders of the league, Leicester City.
With just four games to play, Arsenal are now only 10 points behind the leaders of the league Leicester and five points behind arch-rivals Tottenham.
