Aspirants present nomination papers to IEBC

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cleared more than ten candidates for the Kibra parliamentary seat ahead of the by-election deadline.

The Commission had given the candidates until the close of day (Tuesday) to present their nominations. The ten candidates who have been cleared are among the 26 who had interest in the contest to succeed the late Ken Okoth.

Among those who presented their nomination papers to IEBC were candidates fronted by Ford-Kenya ,Amani National Coalition, The United Green Movement, Editar Ochieng of Ukweli Party  and Frida Kerubo Kingara, who hopes to run as an independent candidate. Jubilee’s Mariga and ODM’s Imran Okoth are expected to present their nomination papers today at noon.

IEBC is also set to announce the official campaign period that kicks off this week and ends  on the 4th of November
