At last, Jubilee parties agree on merger, new party constitution during retreat

Parties in the Jubilee Alliance have finally agreed to work together after signing merger instruments, as well as agreeing on a new constitution in preparation for the 2017 general election.

The documented merger instruments cover the nomination procedure, the welfare of employees of parties under Jubilee Alliance and the mechanisms to guide dissolution of the alliance.

“We have agreed on many pertinent issues that have been pending so that we can present the final constitution and report to the President to advise us on the day to launch the new party,” Jubilee Party co-chair Kiraitu Murungi said.

The Meru Senator said the alliance is looking to President Uhuru Kenyatta for the final word on the new party and the dates to launch at Kasarani before the year ends. “After the launch we will start marketing and recruiting across the country to enhance our presence, since we are a big team now,” Kiraitu said.
