Authorities have launched an operation to locate two guns in Busia County. The firearms were in the wrong hands allegedly taken from two police officers who were on duty during the KCSE examination. The search operation is focused on the Wanga Hills area, specifically in the Budalangi Constituency.
The guns were last seen in the possession of suspects who are believed to be responsible for the murder of one police officer and the severe injury of another in an incident in Siaya County.
Security forces from the counties of Busia, Siaya, and Kakamega have launched a major operation crackdown on Wanga Hills in the Budalangi Constituency, Busia County.
According to residents, the suspects believed to be involved in the murder of one police officer and seriously injuring another in Siaya County were spotted in the Nayera area, in the sub-county of Rwambwa in Budalangi Constituency.
These suspects were seen with two guns believed to have been stolen from two police officers who were providing security during the KCSE exam yesterday. It is reported that the two suspects were seen with guns in the Nayera area before entering a house. Later, they left and hid the guns in the nearby Wanga Hills after they forcefully took a phone from a preacher who was seeking help from fellow residents.
The police commander in Busia County, leading a large contingent of officers from Busia, Siaya, and Kakamega, has set up a camp in the area to apprehend the criminals.
He appealed to the residents of Budalangi Constituency to provide information and report any rumors about these armed criminals to the security agencies.
His counterpart from Siaya County, Mr. Mzungu Shaaban, narrated and requested support from locals after yesterday’s incident. He urged the residents of Budalangi and Siaya to cooperate with the police in the operation to arrest these suspects.
