Babu Owino Is On The Right Track

Efforts to ensure Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili famously known as Babu Owino looses his seat on the claims he filed his response 5 days after the stipulated period deadline have failed terribly.

The High Court ob Thursday 19th October 2017 ruled that the Embakasi East Legislator satisfactorily explained why his replying affidavit on a petition filed by a former Jubilee Candidate challenging Owino’s Victory was filed 5 days late.

Francis Mureithi , the petitioner, wanted the court to order that his petition was conceded by the respondent, Owino.

Mureithi had applied to the court, through ham Lagat and Associates Advocates to dismiss Owino’s response to the case on the claims that it had been filed 5 days after the seven days window period allowed by the law  had elapsed.

Had the court ruled that Mureithi’s petition was unchallenged, Babu Owino would have lost his seat and fresh elections would have taken place.

The good job by Babu Owino’s defense team, Jackson Alwele and Edwin Sifuna, ensured that the legislator keep his seat, at least for now.

High Court Judge,Justice Sergon, has set pre-trial date for November 30th.
