Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili, also known as Babu Owino has called on the Managing Trustee of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) to move with speed and issue title deeds. In a statement issued by Mr. Ongili in a video posted on his Twitter page, NSSF is to issue title deeds to the constituents of Tassia in Embakasi East. Should this request not be implemented, a demonstration would be held.
“NSSF should move with speed and issue TITLE DEEDS to my People at TASSIA in Embakasi East Republic. We will organize for Maandamano should this not be implemented,” the parliamentarian tweeted.
Mr. Owino further justified his request by reminding the Managing Trustee that under the former regime, former president Uhuru Kenyatta had sanctioned and launched the ‘Titling Project’ at Jacaranda Grounds. This project would have residents issued with title deeds.
However, this was not the case and up to date, the said constituents are yet to receive their papers according to Mr. Ongili. He decried the situation and blamed corrupt lawyers who allegedly sought bribes from members of the public to release the title deeds.
Additionally, he pointed out that the KES 900,000 paid by consituents to improve infrastructure ought to be refunded since the planned road projects were completed.
“Failure to comply with these requests will lead to the next course of action which is Maandamano,”asserted Mr.Ongili.
