Police in Kabarnet have nabbed over 5000 litres of Kangara at Sesia location after a combined team of security personnel led by Deputy county commissioner Reuben Ratemo launched a morning raid in the area.
This follows complaints from members of the public that the illegal trade is being carried out by security officers from Sesia area but who work away from the county,where they employ young boys to carry out the trade for them enjoying impunity from some officers in the county.
The illicit brew business have seen the area lack behind in development with youths dropping out of school as they indulge in drinking.During the raid, officers found drums hidden underground besides river beds where they poured and destroyed the apparatus they use to prepare.
Mr. Reuben Ratemo said they have launched an investigation to ascertain the said officers who are carrying out the illegal brew business and action could be taken on them.
Baringo Central OCPD Philip Wambugo said they will not relent in their fight against illegal brew and further called on members of the public to forward information that could lead to arrest of the players.
Matthew Rutto, a resident blamed the police for collaborating with the brewers as when they arrest them they are released after parting with some money.
The illegal brew is triving majorly in Kituro area,kaprogonya And Bondeni,atleast five people have turned blind and with the rise of domestic violence in the area.
