BARINGO: MCAS DON IN ISLAM REGALIA DURING MOTION TO APPROVE NAME OF SERVICE BOARD MEMBER

Drama unfolded in Baringo County assembly during a motion to approve the External member of county assembly service board which was occasioned by the demise of the member of the board.
A section of the members of assembly donned in Islam religious attire in solidarity of the deceased member who was a Muslim where the assembly had promised to replace the vacant position with a muslim candidate.
Following the death of Maccah Amisi who succumbed after short illness early this year ,the assembly started to replace her where the MCAs who were pushing for muslim replacement dressed in muslim attire.
More than ten candidates applied for the position which saw Rebecca Lomong from Baringo North emerging top position and later approved by the house forcing the members to protest.
Eldama Ravine MCA Julius Ng’otie lamented how the process was conducted, sensing mischief warning the house against going against what they had promised the family.
Kipruto Kimisop supported the motion saying Mrs Lomong was picked on merit saying it was a move to empower young women in the county.
The house later approved the name making her the member of the service board.
