BARINGO: PARENTS RAISE CONCERNS OVER RAISING OF SCHOOL FEES AS SCHOOLS DECRY OF SPACE DUE TO 100% TRANSITION

Even as form one students are getting admitted to secondary schools , Parents are decrying the challenges they go through to raise school fees owing to the adverse effects of Covid 19 . Most parents revealed that they are facing harsh economic times due to Covid 19 pandemic urging the government to inject more funds to support students who might not report to school due to lack of fees . Sumukwo Kibet , a guardian who brought his grandchild for admission in Kabarnet High School said he was forced to seek help to enable him admit the student saying he may face a challenge in raising fees for the next term. Sarah Kosgei requested Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha to reduce school fees for parents saying it was too high for parents to afford.
Over 200 students were admitted on day one of report with students excited as they step to secondary school. Obama Ruto didn’t hide his joy as he was officially admitted to Kabarnet High School. However ,Kabarnet High School Principal Julius Ndirangu said that the school is facing a challenge of accommodation as the school will receive 450 students following the 100% transition directive .He added that as a school they put on stringent measures to uphold the Covid 19 protocols .
