Even after half of County Assemblies giving a nod the Building Bridges Initiative amendment Bill, Baringo County MCA’s who rejected the bill have said that they don’t regret rejecting the BBI report.
The assembly becomes the only county to shoot down the proposed constitutional amendment bill so far in a chaotic session which saw fights and teargas being thrown to the legislators.
Led by Ewalel Chapchap MCA Peter Kebut, they said that they did it because they were representing the views of the people of Baringo county.
Kebut, added that the people of Kenya will remember them one day when the proposals of the BBI document will have been implemented.
His Sacho ward counterpart, John Tarus, reiterated by saying that they will reject the document again and again since they have not seen anything good in the BBI report.
Geoffrey Kiprop who is a resident said the MCA’s did the county proud for rejecting BBI adding that the MCA’s should not be victimized since it was their democratic right.
This comes as 38 counties have so far approved the BBI report.
