The court will today decide whether Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s appeal is admissible or not.
Governor Mutua appealed the appellant court’s June 8th ruling that stated he did not fairly win his August 8, 2017 re-election.
Mutua had sworn to appeal the ruling at the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court, stating that he respected the court’s decision but wasn’t satisfied.
This was after his political rival and former Wiper gubernatorial candidate Wavinya Ndeti won the case at the Court of Appeal.
Mutua who had not seen the surprise coming said he will continue being the governor until another one is sworn in.
For the past few months Governor Mutua has been facing pressure to step aside from his position and let the assembly speaker Florence Mwangangi take over.
However, he has been reluctant to, vowing not to budge no matter what.
Due to that, he has clashed with MCAs for claiming they were paid to oust him from his position.
