During his visit, President Ruto will engage in several high-profile activities expected to yield real, tangible and immediate benefits to Kenyans.
According to the State House spokesperson, Hussein Mohammed, one of the key advantages for Kenya from this visit will be the creation of employment opportunities for the youth.
Both nations advocate for the immigration of skilled workers who have completed vocational training or possess a university degree, with their qualifications recognized by the relevant authorities in each country.
“Germany will waive the requirement for a labour market test for Kenyans before employment,” read the statement in part from the spokesperson.
Furthermore, Kenyans will gain from improved educational and vocational prospects, as Germany will issue long-stay visas to eligible Kenyans pursuing studies or vocational training.
“Upon completion, Kenyan students and apprentices may extend their stay to gain professional experience and potentially secure employment in Germany,” stated Hussein.
Additionally, there will be an increase in cultural visibility for Kenyans. The Citizen’s Festival is expected to significantly enhance the recognition of Kenyan culture in Germany, fostering greater appreciation and understanding while promoting tourism and cultural exchanges.
“In the last financial year, Kenya attracted 81,359 German tourists compared to 66,064 in the previous year marking a 23.2% growth,” the State House spokesperson added.
Strengthened economic ties will also be a notable benefit of this visit, promoting investment opportunities in key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, and the creative economy, thereby positioning Kenya as a prime destination for German investors.
“This visit not only reaffirms the strong ties between Kenya and Germany but also opens new avenues for cooperation that will benefit the people of both nations,” noted Hussein Mohamed, State House Spokesperson.
