Bhang worth Sh. 500, 000 netted in Murang’a

Police in Murang’a on Tuesday managed to net bhang worth Sh. 500, 000 which was being transported to Nairobi by a lorry from Moyale in Marsabit County.

The security officers who were on patrol along Kenol –Sagana road also arrested the driver of the lorry and his aide who will be arraigned in court after investigations.

Murang’a South Sub County Police commander Mr. Alexander Lusara said the officers found the lorry parked along the road and the two in process of repairing a punctured tyre.

The driver and his assistant opted to repair the tyre despite having a spare one, something which prompted the officers to be suspicious.

Lusara said after a search, the police officers managed to find the 48 kgs of bhang which was hidden under the spare tyre.

He warned drivers who are being used to transport drugs saying spot check points will be mounted along the road to try to curb trafficking of bhang.
