An accountant working for Trans Nzoia County is on the radar of anti-graft sleuths . Though Andrew Biketi Musuya earns a monthly salary of KSh 129,527, he has miraculously acquired over KSh 286 million in wealth over a period of six years.
The properties acquired are worth over KSh 226.8 million and were acquired between January 2013 and November 2018. He also has a fleet of top of the range vehicles.
While his earnings were KSh5.8 million in six years, the EACC detectives discovered that he had received cash deposits into his bank accounts totaling to KSh 45.5 million, excluding his salary. Documents filed in court by EACC, show that Biketi also received KSh 7.9 million M-Pesa deposits.
Enter his suspected proxy and it gets twisted. Mildred Kerubo Obare a hawker Kerubo owns at least six firms that were paid at least KSh 177.7 million by the Trans Nzoia County. It is suspected she is Biketi’s proxy and her firms and banks accounts are conduits to embezzle taxpayer’s money from the county government.
What set the ball rolling was Biketi’s denial that he does not own a Toyota Prado registered in Kerubo’s name acquired in 2015. EACC detectives conclusively established that the high-end car acquired for KSh5.6 million from Ahmed Iftikhar, a Pakistani was paid for by Biketi.
