Boinnet Summons Wetangula to Record a statement.

In a press release that was sent to the newsroom today, Inspector General of Police (IG) Joseph Boinett has summoned Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to record a statement with police after he alleged that he knows businessman Jacob Juma’s killers and would name them during his burial on Saturday.

“We are also aware that there has been a great deal of media speculation regarding the circumstances surrounding the murder that include clearly unfounded accusations being made by some politicians to the effect that some police units were involved in the murder,” IG’s statement read.

“We wish to inform the public that whist we commiserate with the family for the tragic loss, we are cognizant of the fact that murders of fairly high profile individuals naturally attract lots of public attention and all manner of speculation. However, we in the police make no exceptions in our investigations, but follow diligently the procedure as prescribed in the law.”

“This murder case is therefore receiving the necessary attention following due processes and procedures. It is therefore in this respect that we wish to appeal to anyone with any piece of information that may assist our investigations to contact the nearest police station for further action.”

Bonnet also assured that he has qualified team that is investigating the matter.

The late Juma  requiem mass  will be held on Thursday at All Saints Cathedral and his remains set to be buried this weekend at his home in Mungore village, Khasoko area of Bumula Constituency.
