At the 15th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum and Expo held in Macau, Dr. Xianfa and the Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, concentrated on enhancing diplomatic and economic ties between their respective nations, particularly focusing on transportation projects.

In his keynote address, CS Murkomen underscored the significance of investing in the development and management of multimodal transport corridors to ensure efficient and intelligent transportation.

Such investments not only create jobs but also address transportation needs in mass rapid transit systems, road networks, railways, ports, and airports.

CS Murkomen expressed his pleasure at meeting Dr. Liu Xianfa, former Chinese Ambassador to Kenya and now Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region.

He also had the opportunity to meet prominent figures like Director General Sun Yuanjiang of the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank and Ms. Jiang Wu, the Country Head for China at UK Export Finance, to discuss funding for climate-resilient infrastructure and current and future transport infrastructure projects.

Additionally, CS Murkomen engaged in productive talks with a delegation from Guizhou Communication Construction Group about potential collaborations on roads and bridges under the Public Private Partnership model, which aims to modernize and enhance Kenya’s transport infrastructure.

In a meeting with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) President Wang Lijun, CS Murkomen praised their exceptional workmanship and professional approach in critical infrastructure projects and expressed the Ministry’s willingness to collaborate further to enhance the competitiveness of specific corridors.

These discussions and engagements reflect the Government’s dedication to forging strong partnerships and collaborations to improve and transform transportation infrastructure.
