Boris Johnson will be the new occupant of number 10 Downing Street taking over from Theresa May.
The new Prime Minister, a Conservative takes office on Wednesday afternoon after his audience with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
He will soon name the new “modern British” cabinet. It is expected that he will use the opportunity to increase the number of women in full cabinet positions and boost ethnic minorities’ representation.
Soon after his victory, Johnson said his priorities were to deliver Brexit, unite the country and defeat Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. He is expected to address the nation for the first time outside Downing Street at about 16:00.
There are however some concerns with regard to Boris’s Prime Ministership. To start with he has no mandate from the general public as the election was only been decided by Tory members. Secondly, Boris lacks a Commons majority. Third, is the Brexit Elephant that just won’t go away.
