On May 4th, 2024, Johannesburg, South Africa, was transported back in time to the Regency era as Netflix unveiled Season 3 of Bridgerton with a glamorous event titled “Regency Era Splendor: Into The Spotlight.” The city served as the perfect backdrop, with Memoire Events and Wedding Venue in Muldersdrift transformed into a grand ballroom reminiscent of a bygone era.
The event was not limited to South African celebrities as Netflix flew in notable figures from across the continent, creating a true African Ton.
Kenyan actress Jackie Matubia dazzled in a burgundy jumpsuit, while Kenya’s media personality, Amina Abdirabar, came in a stunning emerald gown. Tanzanian comedian Idris Sultan and his team made a statement in custom-designed outfits. Guests from Ghana, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Nigeria added to the evening’s elegance, seamlessly blending African fashion with Regency-inspired attire.
Adding to the excitement, Adjoa Andoh, acclaimed for her role as Lady Danbury in Bridgerton, graced the event as a special guest, bringing an air of authenticity to the festivities.
The venue, Memoire Events and Wedding Venue in Muldersdrift was transformed into a lavish ballroom, complete with music and dancing that paid homage to both the Bridgerton era and vibrant African cultures.

Despite some criticisms, particularly regarding the incorporation of South African cultural elements, the event undeniably celebrated luxury, love, and the global appeal of Bridgerton.
Ultimately, the Bridgerton event in Johannesburg provided a platform for African talents to shine and offered fans a captivating glimpse into the Regency world, all set in the lively backdrop of a South African metropolis.
