A Senate hopeful in Bungoma, Moses Nandalwe has called on the Ford Kenya party leadership to carry out free and fair nominations ahead of looming by- election, whose date has not been officially announced by the IEBC.
The Senator position fell vacant after Moses Wetang’ula resigned to contest for the National assembly speaker-ship which he won.
But according to Bungoma County Woman MP Catherine Wambilianga, Ford Kenya has already settled on a candidate.
Nandalwe however argued that Ford Kenya has never held free and fair party primaries noting that it is one of the reasons why the party never grows.
“Ford Kenya needs to grow beyond Bungoma, hence the reason I have come back to the party to partner with other leaders and officials to grow it,” he said.
He added, “I have officially ditched ODM and joined Ford Kenya for the purpose of growing it and supporting our speaker Moses Wetang’ula.”
The County woman MP Saturday trashed the party’s plan to back former Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga to replace Wetang’ula saying they have already settled on Wetang’ula’s long serving aide Wafula Wakoli.
Nandalwe wants the Ford party to hold fair nominations and allow residents to pick a person of their choice to replace Wetang’ula.
“I have been in politics for quite some time and the man proposed by Ford Kenya cannot beat me, I want free and fair nominations not proposals,” Nandalwe stated.
He affirmed that if given the opportunity to become Senator, he will perform his oversight role well and present bills before the floor of the house that seek to help the common mwananchi.
Nandalwe who vied for the Sirisia parliamentary seat in 2013 on Ford Kenya party now says that he is back to Ford Kenya to support and grow it to greater heights.
“We envisage to revive Ford Kenya and grow it. The party is very lean on the ground. We want to spread to other counties by bringing back the members who moved to other small parties,” he said.
Nandalwe argues that he is a long friend to the national assembly speaker and he is equal to the task if elected as the next Bungoma Senator.
