Following a move to uphold culture and traditions in the society, a section of pupils grounded traditional porridge as another group roasted yams with the assistance of their teachers at Precious Bonanza School in Chuka, Tharaka-Nithi County on their cultural day yesterday.
Many other activities were undertaken by the lower primary pupils referred to as Grade 1, 2 and 3 under the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) that was introduced last year.
Charles Ndirangu, the school’s headteacher said pupils were very lively conducting different traditional activities noting that the move to change the curriculum came at the right time.
However, Ndirangu urged the government to continue organizing regular pieces of training for teachers on the new curriculum since some were not fully skilled.
