Chief of the Defense Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri has initiated the CDF familiarization visits to KDF Services, Formations and Units.
The familiarization visits provide a holistic view of the respective Service and also an opportunity for the CDF to interact with the Officers and Soldiers of the Service across all ranks and file.
The first familiarization visit was held at Kahawa Garrison, Nairobi County, where the CDF was received by the Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General David Tarus.
During the visit, the CDF laid a wreath at the Garrison Monument in honour of the fallen soldiers, and also inspected a Half Guard of Honour mounted by the 7th Battalion the Kenya Rifles (7KR).
General Kahariri commended the Kenya Army’s role in defending the Nation sovereignty, their success in external operations and their contributions to internal security.
“You have performed exceptionally in external operations and registered success in multi-agency arrangements to deliver on, internal security,” the CDF congratulated.
He further highlighted the threat posed by climate change and urged the troops to lead in national environmental conservation efforts, promising support from the Defense Headquarters for initiatives such as establishing tree seedling nurseries and participating in tree planting.
Furthermore, he stressed on the importance of adhering to the KDF’s core values of professionalism, integrity, civil prerogative, apolitical stance and loyalty through chain of command.
In his remarks the CDF underscored the spirit of one force, forging ahead for mission readiness and urged all Kenya Army Personnel to embody professionalism to fulfill their duties effectively.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the Garrison and its Corps and Units.
