The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, presided over the signing of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Performance Contracts for the Financial Year 2025/26 at Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.

The event brought together Service Commanders, Directorates, and Defence Controlled Units (DCUs) to align on performance goals aimed at enhancing efficiency, accountability and operational excellence across the military.

Performance Contracts serve as vital tools to help the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and KDF track progress and ensure delivery of their strategic mandates.

In his address, General Kahariri emphasised the importance of aligning performance targets with the resources provided by the government.

“The targets we set should reflect the results we expect to achieve with the resources provided by the government. I know we are doing well, but there is always room for improvement,” he said.

He urged all KDF leaders to uphold trust, integrity, and responsibility in executing their duties, calling these values essential in building a professional, modern, and mission-ready force.

The CDF also commended the KDF’s growing role in national infrastructure development projects entrusted to the military by the Commander-in-Chief.

“We are managing these projects on behalf of other ministries and agencies. In the coming year, we hope to expand our capacity to handle infrastructure development both internally and across the country,” General Kahariri noted.

He expressed gratitude to all teams involved in coordinating these national assignments and reaffirmed that internal KDF infrastructure improvements remain a top priority.

In his closing remarks, General Kahariri praised the leadership of Commanders across all formations and urged them to continue striving for excellence in service to the nation.
