The Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chief Executive Officer James Oswago, agent Trevy Oyombra, Hamida Ali Kibwana and Kenneth Karani have been charged and released on bond today.
They all denied several charges of receiving a benefit and failing to comply with applicable procedure and guidelines related to procurement of goods.
Oswango and Kibwana have each been released on a cash bail of Sh 600,000 while Oyombra has been released on a cash bail of Sh1 million.
Arrest
James Oswago, agent Trevy Oyombra were arrested by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives over chickengate scandal
Mr. Oswago was arrested together with Trevor Oyombra who acted for British firm Smith & Ouzman as a local agent, Hamida Ali Kibwana and Kenneth Karani.
The EACC said it found “evidence of criminal culpability on the part of the four persons in its report to the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko who agreed with the recommendations.”
The officials are being held at Integrity Centre following the arrest by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission detectives.
