Chief Justice Martha Koome took to her X page to congratulate the newly elected council of the Law Society of Kenya and the newly elected Male representative to the Judicial Service Commission.
In the recently concluded LSK elections held on the 29th of February, Faith Mony Odhiambo was declared the 51st President of the Law Society of Kenya. Faith made history by becoming the second woman to lead LSK since Raychelle Omamo.
She floored four other competitors including Bernard Ng’etich, Njoki Mboce, Peter Wanyama, and Carolyne Kamende. Her counterpart Omwanza Ombati clinched the seat of LSKMale representative to the Judicial Service Commission defeating the former LSK president Eric Theuri.
In the statement issued by the CJ, she said,” I congratulate Ms. Faith Odhiambo, the President-Elect along with the newly elected Council Members of the Law Society of Kenya on their election to steer the Law Society for the next two years.”
“Notably, Ms. Odhiambo’s election marks a significant milestone as the second woman to hold the esteemed office of President in the Law Society of Kenya’s history a remarkable step towards promoting inclusion and diversity in our professional organizations,” read the statement in part.
“Furthermore, I congratulate Mr. Omwanza Ombati on his election as the Male Representative of the Law Society of Kenya to the Judicial Service Commission.”
The CJ proceeded to commend all candidates who participated in the elections and the advocates across the country, for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the campaign period and on the election day.
She further said,” The Law Society of Kenya and the Judiciary have historically embraced a collaborative and consultative approach in working towards our shared objective of enhancing access to justice, improving the efficiency of our system of administration of justice, and advancing the rule of law in our country.”
“I look forward to working closely with Ms. Odhiambo and her council, as well as with Mr. Ombati at the Judicial Service Commission, to continue championing these transformative objectives.”
