A council of elders from Kisii and Nyamira counties has urged the local community to culturally disown a rogue father who defiled his daughter before fleeing home.
The elders under the aegis of Abagusii Cultural and Development Council termed the incident an ‘abomination’ and sought to know the suspect’s associates so that they could be reigned on.
This comes a mid of the arrest of Julius Ogamba by detectives from his hideout in Nakuru county to face the law in Kisii county.
Speaking during a supreme council meeting in Kisii town, the national chairman Matundura Araka appealed to the local administrators to eliminate illicit brews attributed to commission of such incidents.
The elders called for sensitization of the local community on responsible parenthood and family life by the administrators to avert crimes that go against cultural values and the law.
According to the elders, concealing defilement cases by the local community stood condemned for it worked against eradication of the social vice.
