The Garissa County Emergency Response Committee on Covid-19 has warned members of the public against disregarding government’s health guidelines. Addressing the press after co-chairing the meeting, Garissa County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich said that county public health officers will jointly work with security officers to arrest the citizens flouting the health protocols. The response committee expressed concern over the surging number of infections and deaths in recent days and asked members of the public to wear face masks at all times, maintain social distance, and regularly wash or sanitize their hands. Garissa Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane said that 11 people had tested positive for covid-19 from a sample of 93 in the last 24 hours. Seven patients are currently admitted in the HDU at Garissa Referral Hospital while nine have recovered in the last 24 hours. However,four people lost their lives from Covid-19 in the county health facilities over the same time. Dagane urged the residents to go for covid-19 jabs as advised by the ministry of health.
