Homa Bay County Assembly Committee on appointments has approved all the 10 County Executive Committee Members who were nominated and presented before it for vetting by Governor Gladys Wanga.
The 10 were all approved after undergoing a five-day-vetting process last week to determine their suitability in their respective positions.
Speaking to journalists after the session, the assembly speaker Julius Gaya who chaired the committee said the members debated exhaustively on the report handed to them by the committee before finally coming to that decision.
He said the Assembly had completed its task and what remained was for the Governor to lead the swearing-in of the CECs to allow them commence their duties.
“Governor Gladys Wanga is now left with the task of appointing the CECs and leading them in taking the oath of office before they can start their duties,” he said.
The Speaker challenged the nominees to work and prove that they are capable of doing the job they have been tasked with. “Now that the jobs you were looking for have been given to you, work and deliver to the people of Homa Bay,” Gaya added.
The deputy speaker Samuel Okomo reiterated that the nominees had met the threshold of chapter six of the Kenyan constitution, adding; “None of them have ever been charged with an offense in a court of law or faced imprisonment, and this made them meet the threshold of chapter six.”
