COUNTY ASSEMBLY STARTS PROBE OVER ALLEGED DEATH OF SEVEN INFANTS

Following reports of seven infants who allegedly died over negligence in Baringo Referral Hospital, County Assembly’s Health committee has kicked off investigation over the deaths calling upon mothers who lost their babies to come out to help in the probe.

The committee of health said the preliminary investigation showed that only three babies died but outside the incubator. They said they are summoning the CEC for Health Mary Panga, Hospital administrator and medical superintendent to shed light on the circumstances the children died at the facility.
The alleged deaths caused uproar from members of the public and net citizens who claimed of hospital incompetence and negligence in handling health in the county.
Noor Oduor, a father who lost a child had claimed that one of the twin child died in an incubator and upon called to sign the consent form he said he saw other six bodies, something the hospital denied claiming it was malicious.
According to the reports received, they indicate that the seven died while inside the incubator due to negligence, where medical students are allegedly said to have set the temperatures too high.
The source further revealed that the hospital forced the mothers to be forcefully discharged from the maternity ward after they delivered.
The committee said they will conclude the findings within a week and those found culpable will face actions as per recommendations.
