A court has ordered the detention of an individual accused of assisting in the disposal of the body of Willis Ayieko, the former human resource manager at Wells Fargo.

Siaya Senior Resident Magistrate Benjamin Limo has ruled that Samwel Onyango Longwise, aged 52, will be held by the police for a period of 21 days.

Longwise was presented in court on Wednesday morning after his arrest at Luanda Doho in Kisa West, Kakamega County, the previous day, as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder.

During the court proceedings, he did not enter a plea, as the police submitted a miscellaneous application requesting his detention for 21 days to facilitate their investigation, a request that was approved by the court.

He is said to have helped transport the body of the deceased which was found dumped at the Mungowere stream that forms the boundary of Siaya and Kakamega counties on 23rd October, 2024.

Ongweso is the fifth suspect to be ordered detained by the police in connection with Willis’ murder investigation.

Additionally, two other suspects, one male and one female, have died following a confrontation with the police during the investigation.

The late Ayieko was interred at Ong’iende village in Central Alego location, Siaya County.

Leaders including Governor James Orengo and legislators Samwel Atandi, David Ochieng, and Otiende Amollo, have called for an expansion of the investigation to identify those who allegedly orchestrated the murder.
