Court orders man faced with multiple counts of attempted murder, attempted suicide, arson to undergo mental test

A Nyahururu Court has ordered a mental assessment test to be conducted on a man accused of attempting to murder his two daughters.

Nyahururu Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa directed that a psychiatric examination be conducted on Mr Ken Ngaruiya Kiama who is being faced with multiple charges of attempted, murder, suicide and arson to ascertain his fitness to stand trial when he was arraigned in court on Tuesday.

Kiama is said to have run berserk and stabbed the two minors aged seven and one year old, set their house ablaze and then attempted to kill himself by stabbing himself on June 19, this year following a domestic violence incident at Ziwani estate in Nyandarua County.

The 7-year old girl suffered 15 knife stab wounds on the back, while the one-year-old girl suffered 5 knife stabs on the back.
