Court state that two women miscarry 11 times after father’s curse.

Maua court yesterday reported that two women, who were cursed by their father four years ago have had 11 miscarriages.Ruth Mwakachiu said one of her daughters has miscarried seven times and the other four times.

The mother of three said her husband Bernard Theuri cursed their two daughters on May 2, 2012.She said the man threw dust at them and declared they are not his biological children.

Mwakachiu said the curse did not befall her third child because she was pregnant with her at the time.“Following the curse, my two daughters cannot carry a pregnancy to term. They always miscarry. This has forced their husbands to separate from them,” She said.

Mwakachiu said after the curse Theuri kicked her and the two girls out of their matrimonial home, despite having been married under customary law.

She was testifying in a case where Theuri is challenging his excommunication from his clan after he failed to appear before the council of elders three times to explain why he cursed his children.

He has sued Henry Taitumu, Stanley Mutura and Robert Mutuma, who are the senior clan officials.Theuri says he was excommunicated on May 22, 2012 in Luciati location, Igembe North district, with intent to defame him.

He says the elders wrote to the Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders calling for his removal from any congregation because he had been excommunicated and cursed by the Athi Nathi, Amakuu and M’Amuo clans.

Theuri says the letter was likely to injure his reputation by exposing him to hatred, contempt or ridicule.Mwakachiu said after they were kicked out of their home, her husband demanded his dowry back. It was returned through the Njuri Ncheke.

She says Theuri stopped supporting them financially.Theuri has sued for defamation and wants the court to lift the excommunication.

However, two clan officials, Zakary Mutua and Isaac Kithonga, said the excommunication can only be lifted once Theuri pays a fine of a bull while the curse can be reversed by offering a bull and a he-goat.

They said the only option is for the man to pay the fine because the excommunication cannot be appealed against. The elders said the decision to excommunicate him was made by 128 members of the clans.
