Crackdown on unauthorized vehicles starts in thika as landbrokers and strangers take over DCCs parking lot

Following a consistent public outcry and concerns by departmental heads from different ministries housed in the Thika DCC’s compound, a crackdown on all unauthorized vehicles has been launched.

In the last few months, land cartels have invaded the Thika land registry parking their vehicles as early as 6:00AM thus blocking even land registrars and other departmental heads who have no option but to seek parking elsewhere.

Other vehicle owners working in Nairobi leave their vehicles in the compound with most of them parking at the road thus blocking other motorists from free traffic.

As a result, Thika DCC Mbogo Mathioya has ordered all unauthorized vehicles impounded.

This also comes barely a week ago when the body of a young man was was discovered hanging on a tree near the thika lands registry on unclear circumstances. The body that had stayed there for a week was decaying and could not be identified.

Speaking to the press at his office, Mbogo also ordered departmental heads to clear bushes near their offices and have trees cut down since they are a security threat.

Kiosks operating in the compound would not be tolerated as the government was planning to fence round the compound and once fenced, anybody operating from inside and his not a government official will be deemed “persona- non- grata”.

The new development will ease insecurity and discourage land brokers who in the past have been reportedly defrauded unsuspecting victims thousands of money on fishy land deals.
