CS Aden Duale Highlights Collaboration for Affordable Healthcare, UHC

Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale highlighted the importance of collaboration this morning as a vital factor in enhancing affordable healthcare systems and promoting Universal Health Coverage (UHC), which is a fundamental aspect of Kenya’s transformative agenda.

He also recognized the significant contributions of his predecessor, Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa, in furthering these initiatives and guiding the health sector towards essential reforms.

In a concise handover ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Nairobi, Hon. Duale stressed that the well-being of a nation is intricately connected to the health of its populace.

Joined by Principal Secretaries Ms. Mary Muthoni (Public Health and Professional Standards) and Mr. Harry Kimtai (Medical Services), Hon. Duale reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to adhering to the law while providing effective health solutions for the country.

In his address to the Ministry staff, the Cabinet Secretary acknowledged the commitment of his previous team to service delivery.

Hon. Duale expressed his readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders, including resolving union disputes, to streamline the health sector and deliver effective health solutions. He also urged members of the press to support the government’s efforts by providing the right narrative to help successfully implement SHA and address ongoing challenges in the health sector.

He also emphasized the Ministry’s alignment with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the ongoing partnership with development partners to enhance the health sector.
