Pictures bearing striking poses in the nudes at hundreds of locations in the US, Canada, and Europe were captured in camera, from New York City to London by Jordan Matter.
The stunning photographs of the nude group of dancers are breathtaking, some captured in Washington Square Park in front of the iconic arch, with 25 dancers who Matter instructed to ‘drop your clothes and run into position’, the New York Post reported.
The dancers held their poses in front of the arch for 43 seconds until Matter yelled ‘Break!’ The photos snapped shortly before midnight, and right before police arrived to close the park were part of the final photo needed to complete his new book.
Matter, who is also the author of the New York Times bestseller titled Dancers Among Us, shot the dancers without clothes at several locations across the US, Canada and Europe, the Post reported.
For each photo shoot Matter instructed the group of dancers to practice the poses with their clothes on, so they would only need to pose naked for less than a minute for the shots.
‘There is no obvious reason why any of these amazing performers would volunteer for this project. It was frequently very cold; it was usually late; it was dangerous, illegal, exhausting, and, of course, they’re naked,” he wrote on his Website.
‘Yet they still said yes. Why? Because they shared my belief that if we leap, the net will appear.’
He went on to write that the project represents ‘our willingness to throw ourselves into the streets without fear of failure’.
On his website, Matter also takes interested viewers behind the scenes of some of his shoots, including one shoot that featured nine ballerinas during a cold New York City night.
