Wiper Democratic Movement Chairman David Musila has announced his decision to quit Wiper Party citing favoritism.
This was after Musila, the aspiring governor and outgoing Senator was floored by the incumbent governor, Julius Malombe, during Wiper primaries.
Dr Malombe garnered 88,382 votes while Mr Musila got 74,308 votes in the bitter contest whose tallying of votes took more than 50 hours to conclude as the candidates disagreed on the results.
Protesting the results, Musila defected from the party and chose to run for the post as a free candidate.
Fake results delay
Counting of votes in the Kitui County Wiper gubernatorial nominations was delayed for hours amid confusion as fake results were released on social media by rival camps.
Governor Julius Malombe and Senator David Musila’s camps released vote results favourable to them on WhatsApp.
However, the results were at variance with the actual ones, prompting tension at the main tallying hall.
