Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Shedrack Omondi Okindo, alias Hon. Mosquito, in connection with a seditious video that was widely circulated on TikTok on August 1, 2025.

According to DCI, the trending video contained threats of violence and incitement against public order, quickly went viral, triggering public concern and swift action from security agencies.

In the video, Hon. Mosquito was calling for the release of former police officer Jackson Kimani alias Cop Shakur and former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Officer Patrick Osio.

Patrick and Cop Shakur are leaders of the Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI) Movement formed to fight police brutality.

“I warn you Ruto, and I want you to listen to me very clearly. I have been warning you but you are taking it as a pike and this is the last warning Release Patrick Nyambaka Osoi and Cop Shakur… Don’t tamper with the cops. We are so many outside there, you don’t know,” said Hon. Mosquito.

“We as the forces, we are tired and we will light for our own people. We are not GenZs to threaten, we are not civilians. Our ways are different from your way. Release those two comrades with immediate effect if you want peace,” Okindo added.

He further warned the President that former military and police officers were coming for him.

“Don’t try the fire. Ruto you are going over, and we are not going to tolerate your nonsense…Consult CS Murkomen, DCI and IG with immediate effect to release Patrick and Cop Shakur,” he said.

Following forensic leads, detectives trailed Okindo to his hideout in the Miritini area of Mombasa County, where he was swiftly apprehended.

“A subsequent search of his residence revealed the following: two pairs of tactical combat fatigues, a notebook with the writings, ‘We are going to apply guerrilla resistance tactics – Justice to all freedom heroes’, three mobile phones, assorted documents linked to the Justice Direction Party, among other items,” stated the DCI.

Okindo is currently in custody, undergoing processing as he awaits his court appearance.
