Detectives from the DCI Homicide Bureau have apprehended Cecilia Wangari Kirisa, aged 39, in relation to the murder of Maxwell Wamwea, which took place on May 11, 2022, in the Kasarani area of Nairobi.
Initially classified as a case of mob justice at the Kasarani Police Station, the investigation was reopened following the receipt of a complaint letter on November 19, 2023.
Upon reviewing the case file, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) advised that Wangari, along with another suspect who remains at large, should face charges for the murder of the victim.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Wangari was apprehended at her hideout in an Airbnb in Thindigwa, Kiambu County, and is scheduled to be arraigned in court today on 21st February 2025.
“In a separate incident, another murder suspect, Martin Asembo Masemo, 32, was also arrested following ongoing investigations into the murders of George Njuguna Ngung’u, which occurred on July 31, 2024, and Victoria Mumbua Moloki, which took place on September 27, 2024,” the DCI said on X.
“Both victims were taxi drivers in Mombasa and Migori, respectively.”
The DCI has indicated that Masemo is thought to be an associate of Edwin Kipngetich, who is currently facing charges in the Nakuru High Court.
Masemo is scheduled to appear in court to seek a custodial order that will enable investigators to complete their inquiries.
The DCI noted that efforts to locate and detain other suspects linked to these murders are actively underway.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting thorough investigations to ensure justice is served.
