In a notable speech aimed at promoting excellence within the National Police Service, Mr Mohamed I. Amin, the Director of Criminal Investigations, has called upon senior police officers to maintain their dedication to transforming the National Police Service (NPS) into a premier global policing entity.
This call to action was delivered during a session with 80 senior officers participating in the County Commanders Strategic Leadership Course, held at the National Police Service Leadership Academy in Ngong, Kajiado County.
During his address, Director Amin emphasized that the ambition to achieve a distinguished police service hinges on the unwavering adoption of core values such as justice, integrity, equity, participation, accountability, openness, and civility.
According to the DCI, these principles are essential in ensuring that the NPS delivers policing services that are not only effective but also respected by the communities they serve.
Amin emphasized the essential role of effective policing in contemporary society, urging County Heads to promote collaboration among various agencies and to adopt innovative technological advancements as integral components of modern crime-fighting approaches. He noted that as criminal activities develop, law enforcement strategies must also adapt accordingly.
“The dynamics of modern crime require a smart, adaptive approach. Criminals are quick to utilize emerging technologies to facilitate their illicit activities, and it is imperative for law enforcement agencies to deploy advanced investigative techniques that effectively counter these threats,” Amin stated.
Additionally, Academy Commandant Mr. David K. Mathiu, AIG, expressed his confidence in the direction the National Police Service Leadership Academy is headed.
He highlighted the institution’s commitment to becoming a premier centre of excellence in training police officers.
“The focus is on instilling the highest standards of competence, integrity, and discipline through a curriculum built on quality education and thorough research initiatives,” he said.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the five-week County Commanders Strategic Leadership Course is designed to enhance senior officers’ strategic leadership competencies. Its goal is to facilitate effective coordination among various policing functions, thereby creating a sense of synergy and cohesion among senior officers from the Kenya Police Service (KPS), the Administration Police Service (APS), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
