DCI officers in Kericho County have arrested a man at Kapsoit trading centre who has been manufacturing fake second generation liquor.
Confirming the arrest, Kericho County police commander Silas Gichunge said they have been hunting the man for some time now and his arrest is a break through for them and they are finalizing investigations so that he can be arraigned in court.
A total of 20 boxes of white cane and a blue 100 liters drum suspected to be containing methanol was also nabbed.
The county police commander said they suspect the man has been just mixing some ratio of methanol with water without using any other process, which might have endangered the lives of the consumers.
He said despite producing different brands of cartons, the content is suspected to be the same in the 250 ml bottles, which is sold in the local market.
Gichunge said during the raid, six workers were found with 44 cartons labelled differently.
