In a move to enhance environmental sustainability, officers from various directorates within the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) joined Kenyans across the country in celebrating this year’s Mazingira Day, under the theme “Citizen-Centric Tree Growing and Stewardship.”
The event, led by Director Personnel, Francis Ndiema, took place at the DCI Headquarters, Mazingira Complex, where more than 1,000 trees were planted.
“Under the theme “Citizen-Centric Tree Growing and Stewardship,” the event saw more than 1,000 trees planted at the DCI Headquarters, Mazingira Complex, a powerful contribution to Kenya’s ongoing green restoration efforts,” noted the DCI.
Delivering the DCI Director’s message, Mr. Ndiema emphasized the importance of individual and institutional responsibility in environmental conservation.
He highlighted that trees are not only essential for sustaining life and biodiversity but also play a key role in mitigating the effects of climate change.
“The fight against climate change begins with small but deliberate actions,” he remarked.
The Directorate of Reforms, Research, and Innovation Development (RRID), under the leadership of Dr. Phillip Ouma, received special recognition for championing sustainability initiatives within the DCI.
The celebration brought together Heads of Directorates, officers, and their families — a reflection of the DCI’s shared vision of safeguarding Kenya’s environment for present and future generations.
