Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based in Likoni have made a major breakthrough in their fight against violent crime in the coastal region.
A 27-year-old suspect, Paul Odhiambo Magoya, was arrested in a sting operation in Mariakani, Kilifi County, leading to the recovery of a firearm believed to have been used in multiple robberies.
The operation was based on intelligence reports and was executed at Prestige Guest House, where the suspect had booked a room.
Upon searching the premises, the officers found a **CZ pistol** concealed under the suspect’s bed. The firearm is believed to be linked to several cases that have left residents in fear over recent months.
“DCI detectives based in Likoni have recovered a firearm believed to have been used to terrorize residents in the coastal region through violent robberies, arresting a 27‑year‑old man from whose house it was found,” the DCI said.
“Paul Odhiambo Magoya was arrested in a sting operation within Mariakani, when police raided his room at Prestige Guest House. The firearm, a CZ pistol, which was found concealed at his bed, has been submitted for ballistic examination at the National Forensic Laboratory,” the detectives added.
The pistol has since been taken to the National Forensic Laboratory for ballistic testing to determine if it matches evidence collected from previous crime scenes in Likoni and nearby towns.
Magoya remains in police custody as investigations proceed. He is expected to be charged in court once the forensic results are available.
