Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission offices and business premises in Migori Town remained closed for fear of looting during the demonstrations as Cord supporters took to the streets for the third week demanding the disbandment of the electoral body.
Suna West MP Joseph Ndiege led the protesters to the deserted IEBC offices in early hours of the morning with anti –riot police guarding the offices.The protesters maintained that they will not be intimidated by the police and will continue with the demonstrations until the Commission is disbanded.
They were addressed by their leaders outside the IEBC offices before they retreated to the town streets where they burnt tyres and blocked traffic on the major roads.Security officers under command of the county police boss David Kirui monitored the protestors from their police cars.
