“Destruction Of Public Institutions Will Not Be Tolerated,” Says Hon. Wetangula

The Speaker of the Kenyan National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetangula,has warned that destruction of property and attacks of public institutions will not be tolerated.

” Violence, disrespect, the wanton destruction of property, and direct attacks on public institutions will not be tolerated,” Hon. Wetangula said.

This comes after protestors who who were demonstrating against the finance bill 2024 made their way in parliament causing chaos and destruction of property as well as loss of lives.

NationaI assembly speaker acknowledged that he was aware of the ongoing discussions in the country concerning the Finance Bill and the overall economic state.

He also commended the youth for leading the dialogue noting that it is a privilege to witness young people participating in and shaping the future of the nation.

“I am not a stranger to the conversations that have been going on in this country with regards to the finance bill and the general state of the economy of the nation, i laud the youth of this nation for taking the lead in this discourse and what a privilege to be ” he stated.

Hon. Wetangula also highlighted that it is essential that these discussions are conducted in an orderly and meaningful way, within the boundaries of the law, to achieve the desired outcomes.

“However, it is imperative that these discussions are held in a structured and meaningful manner, within the confines of the law in order for them to realize the desired results,” stated National Assembly Speaker.

The Speaker’s proactive approach in addressing these unprecedented events is a positive indication of the leadership’s commitment to upholding democratic principles and maintaining order within the National Assembly.

The events of June 25, 2024, will likely prompt further discussions and actions aimed at preventing similar occurrences in the future and strengthening the overall governance framework in Kenya.
