Kenya Private Hospitals have joined the strike in solidarity ith striking nurses, doctors and arrested officials who were fighting for the rights of the nurses and doctors.
Following a meeting held today by consultants in Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), University of Nairobi, and Nairobi Hospital passed the following resolutions.
The doctors resolved to withdrawal their services from the private wings both inpatient and outpatient effective immediately.
The doctors further threatened to halt all negotiations t if the union leaders are jailed adding that are released by Thursday (22 December) all the consultants will withdraw their services from all the private hospitals and clinics countrywide in solidarity.
KMPDU Secretary General, Ouma Oluga, said that the doctors’ strike, which is in its third week, will not be called off until they reach a deal with the Ministry of Health on the implementation of the 2013 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
“All activities at the Kenyatta National Hospital Private Wing have been withdrawn,” said Oluga.
“We have also withdrawn our members from all major private hospital; Nairobi, Aga Khan, MP Shah.”
The KMPDU Secretary General said that the medics are “fully aware that the withdrawal of services brings adverse consequences.”
