I don’t belong to any organized religion, Prof Makau

Prof Ojienda opened his account of questions to Makau after the break requesting him to explain his 2014 tweet, which as per the Ojienda the tweet looked current.

“I know much has been asked about your 2014 tweet,” began Ojienda. “Your tweet which said, ‘As a matter of personal opinion and thoughts, I cannot accept Uhuru Kenyatta as the president of Kenya,” Ojienda paused. “And you said, I can’t and I won’t change my opinion, what do you say about it?”

Professor Makau who looked more than calm, in smile said that he would change his stand on that since he earlier said he did it as a citizen.

On religion, Makau had hard time to explain himself and his stand after he said that he does not involve himself with any organized religion.

Ojienda requested him to explain his articles on religion, on the right for an individual to be left alone to practice the religion that he or she likes by explaining whether he belongs to any religion

“Do you belong to a religion?” Ojienda asked.

Makau said that he was once a catholic and almost became a priest, but he is nor a Muslim and neither a Hindu nor an Atheist adding that he values everybody and likes doing what the Pope is doing globally.

“Let me say this, that I was raised a catholic, and almost became a priest. I would say that I do not belong to any organized religion,” Makau said. “I would simply say that I do not belong to any religion organization but I find many of the values in the religions to be admirable.”

Makau said that despite not involving himself with religion, the Kenyans should not be worried about the kind of CJ they will have because the Holy Book says “You shall know them by their deeds, not by their words.”

On patriotism, Prof. Makau said that he loved Kenya much and that is why he would like to come on board and help the nation manage the alarming issues within the nation as a CJ.

“Is your allegiance to Kenya incremental, is it based on, is it unconditional love that you have for the country?” Professor Ojienda asked Makau.

Makau went on to say that he would not like to speak for other Kenyan Citizens living abroad but reiterated that he seeks more ground to patriotism.
